Karpathos and the Dodecanese in general are connected to the port of Piraeus. From Karpathos
you can also visit the nearby Dodecanese islands,
the Cycladic islands and Crete through other ports.

Your trip to Karpathos can be with a conventional
ferry boat or Highspeed depending on the day, the
time and the ferry company you wish to travel with.

If you select to visit Karpathos with the conventional ferry your trip will take about 7-10 hours while with
a Highspeed ferry 5.50-8.50 hours depending on
how many ports the ferry will call at on the way.

KARPATHOS > ARCHITECTURE

The houses were built with heavy carved stones, in an austere architecture, contrasting with the rich and elegant decoration of the interior consisting of various hand-made items such as fine embroideries, woven carpets, etc.

The first houses used to be one-storey and were enlarged with more storeys and balconies later.

The windows are long and their frame is made of wood.

Another type of architectural style that visitors will find in Karpathos is similar to the Cycladic one: small cubic whitewashed houses with bright coloured doors and shutters and flat roofs. Those two different architectural styles are blended together in harmony, along with the beautiful churches and the lovely whitewashed chapels with their colourful round domes.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

From today, August 13, 2020 a new decree by the Italian Minister of Health has come into force providing the following alternative measures which apply to people entering Italy after staying in, or transiting from Croatia, Malta, Greece or Spain in the last 14 days:

a. Obligation to present a certificate showing a negative result of a swab, done within the 72 hours prior to entry in Italy.

or

b. Obligation to undergo a molecular or antigen test carried out through a swab upon arrival at the Italian airport, port or border place, where possible; or carried out, within 48 hours from entering the Italian territory, at the competent Italian National Public Health clinic. In this latter case, while waiting for the examination test, people are due to wait in fiduciary isolation at their place of residence or dwelling.

All people, regardless of symptoms, entering Italy from the above mentioned countries are due to immediately inform the Prevention Department of the competent Italian National Health office about their arrival. In the event of outbreaks of symptoms of Covid 19, the obligation of immediate information to Italian Health Authority (through the relevant phone number) as well as of self-isolation remain into force.
