Undoubtedly, it is the most famous beach in Zakinthos. It is located on its north-west side and can only be reached by excursion boats from Agios Nikolaos. It definitely is one of the most famous and the most photographed beaches of Greece.
Laganas is one of the most famous beaches of the island. It is a huge beach, with an approximate length of 9 km its sand is golden and it is thought to be one of the longest beaches in Greece. You can find Laganas beach about 9km from the capital. Finally, the beach has bars, taverns and whatever you could need while swimming.
Kalamaki is near the great beach of Lagana. There you can find restaurants, which are open till late night. The beach is 8 km far from the town and it is easily accessible as all roads lead there. Furthermore, like all beaches of the island it is popular for caretta caretta turtles that visit the island so as to lay their eggs. It is a lovely place to enjoy watching the magnificent sunset as it sets over the Ionian Sea.
Makris Gialos is a lovely beach in the north of the island. It is a fairly small beach but has crystal clear waters and is set in impressive scenery. The water here is deep, so this is not the best beach for families with young children. It is ideal though, for couples wishing to escape crowds and to have a little peace and privacy.
Porto Roma is a quiet picturesque beach, which has fairly shallow water. It is about 18km far from the other organised beaches. Sun beds and umbrellas are available there so you can enjoy your holiday.
