Chora is located in the north-western part of the island and even though it is an island, it has quick and easy access to Akarnanian coasts due to the floating bridge that connects the two places.
The historical city centre is full of traditional houses and mansions which underline the historical and cultural heritage of the place. The city entrance is adorned by the “Mposketo” park, where the busts of the island’s big poets are found, like Aristotle Balaoriti, Aggelos Sikelianos as well as other intellectual personalities.
Nydri till recently was a fishermen settlement, however, today it has become the busiest tourist resort of Lefkada, with luxurious lodgings, commercial shops, restaurants and everything one could ever need during their stay on the island.
The village Pigadisanoi is a beautiful settlement with stone-built houses and the church of Saint Anargyroi. In the region the traditional stone bridge called Markoys with an arch built from Venetians and the waterfalls of Akoni is found.
It is a very beautiful and picturesque village, built at the top of a hill, filled with stoned houses, roads paved with slab as well as footpaths. Worthy to be seen is the Public Library, housing a great amount of books and the little church of Agios Ilias.
