The naval Museum of Chios is found in the centre of the city in the traditional mansion of Anastasios and Maroykos Patera. Among the many important exhibits of the museum are many portraits of sailing boats, made by the famous boat artist Aristeidis Glykas, real masterpieces of popular art composed at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. The collection also includes many objects which were used during the navigation.
Archaeological Museum of Chios includes discoveries from the excavations of the early Cooper Age, till the later antiquity. In the museum one could observe ceramic items, sculptures, anaglyphs, architectural parts, signs, many objects made of glass, golden and cupreous objects and jewels as well.
The most important exhibits of the museum are:
• A prehistoric vessel from Emborios 14th century B.C.
• Geometric amphoras from the city of Chios of the 8th century B.C.
• Letter of Great Alexander to Chios residents.
