The museum is divided into five rooms and includes exhibits from the classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods. It also has a Byzantine and folklore collection. The folklore collection has a representation of the interior of a typical Symian residence with the dining room and the sitting room (furniture, cutlery and paintings) as well as traditional local costumes. The plan of a typical Symian mansion can also be seen in the museum itself with its impressive mosaic which is in the courtyard.
The Archaeological and Folklore Museum is located in Ano Symi at Lieni. There are signs to direct visitors through the maze of charming, narrow alleys.
