The settlement of Halki is in the style of the typical architecture in the Dodecanese. Those characteristics are harmonically intertwined with the neoclassical elements that were introduced in the island’s heavy construction period, during its heyday (early 19th century), when it was becoming a thriving urban centre.
The Italian architecture is represented by two individual edifices of that period, the Customs Station at the dock and the Carabinieri’s Station.
