These beaches are right in the middle of the island, 9 km from Hora.
Steno separates the island into two parts, Mesa Nisi and Ekso Nisi. The first beach we come across as we cross Steno is Mikro Steno, a tiny, sandy beach with a few trees. Next there is Megalo Steno, a larger one with more trees and a cafe.
It is located in Mesa Nisi, in the settlement bearing the same name, 10 km from Hora. It is a beautiful, sandy beach with a few trees. The ancient residences near the beach are very interesting.
On the other side there is a possibility of docking, for those approaching by sea. Opposite the beach, we see the small isles of Ligno and Hondro, Agia Kyriaki, Koutsomiti and Kounoupi. Apart from the isles, which can be visited by boat, we also find the beach of Shoinontas nearby.
It is located in Ekso Nisi in the Livadi settlement, 1.5 km from Hora.
It is a large beach with sand and fine pebbles. One of this beach’s advantages is the shade provided by trees all along it. From Livadi one can approach other beaches, equally beautiful, such as Tzanaki, Moura, Papou and Agiou Konstantinou.
It is located near the settlement of Analipsi (1km).
The area of Shoinontas is a small, coastal settlement. The beach is sandy, with a few trees. It is worth combining a swim in Shoinontas with a visit to the Old Christian basilica, Karekli, which has a mosaic floor dating from the 5th century, just beyond the French sailors’ monument.
