The monastery of Agia Anna was one of the best and highly organized monasteries on Kea during the 17th century. Today the only building that still exists there is the church of Agia Anna and some ruins from the old walls and buildings near the church.
The Abbey of Episkopi is one of the oldest monasteries on Kea. Nowadays one can see the remains of a strengthened wall that once protected the Abbey. In the temple we have found a very important part of history dating back tothe 4th century A.D. It is a list of citizens of Ioylidas and Korissia.
The most sacred protector of the island is the Virgin Mary of Kastriani. This historical monastery is located in the north-east of the island. The monastery is built into steep rock looking towards the sea, and according to tradition this place was chosen by the Virgin Mary herself. The view from the monastery is impressive.
