Amorgos and the Cyclades in general are connected
to the ports of Piraeus and Rafina. From Amorgos
you can also visit the nearby Cycladic islands of Ios,
Santorini, Kimolos, Naxos, Anafi, Milos etc.
In addition, there are ferry connection from Amorgos ferry to the islands of Crete, Rhodes, and basically all Dodecanese and East Aegean Islands via a third island.
Your trip to Amorgos can be with a conventional ferry boat, by Highspeed or Flying dolphin depending on the day, the time and the ferry company you wish to travel with.
If you select to visit Amorgos with the conventional ferry your trip will take about 5-7 hours while with a Highspeed ferry 3.5-4.5 hours depending on how

The ruins of ancient Minoa, one of the three ancient cities of Amorgos, are found at a distance of 3km. from the harbour of Katapolon, on the southern side of the hill. According to archaeological research and the important discoveries from excavations, it appears that the region around the city, Minoa, was habited during the Neolithic era.
The archaeological excavations also brought to light the ruins of a settlement of Historical years. The ruins of the settlement date back to the 11th century B.C. and according to the historical sources were founded by Ionian settlers. The continuous inhabitation of the region did not allow for the rescue of buildings of geometric years. However, the ruins of a marble temple from the Hellenistic years, placed in the 3rd B.C. have been saved.
In the lower side of the island, in the place Kastri, are found the ruins of the ancient city Arkesini. In this important archaeological space have not been realised systematic excavations. Occasionally they have bean unburied accidental important discoveries, which are looked after in the Archaeological Collection of Amorgos. From the surface discoveries and from the relics of the buildings, it appears that the city grow up the classic and hellenistic era. Now exists department of wall of the city and various of buildings.
Near the village Tholaria, in the place Bigla, we meet the ruins of the ancient Aigiali. In the region they have found important relics and signs engraved in rocks. Nevertheless still they have not begun researches in the locality that as we know existed the ancient city. In the wider region exist also the relic of the towers of Hellenistic years.
